Fair enough, but on what engine did you do this upgrading? The 1.8T 225? And why the HELL invest in a TT that much, the chassis is just not that good and when i see the list you just summed up it must have cost you at least the same as the car itself. For that money i'd just bought me an S4 or something
Anyhow, octane seems to be the topic

By the way, how is that quattro system holding up under all that power? I heard several rumours that the quattro equipment on the TT in the 225 version was just about all it could have.

quattro held up well so far (60K miles) The the stock front trak had very week tranny's, basically your bottom of the line VW.
Parts cost me just under $5K most of the work I did myself, with the help of a few friends. Started with 180HP, 225HP model didn't come out until 2001 at least not here in US. Also, if you engage the parking break to one click (this does not engage the breaks), it turns off the quattro feature.

I have to run mid grade or premium in the summer months in my 71 ghia. not for performance mind you, just for cooling issues. The hotter the weather the higher I have to go to keep head temps down. DO NOT USE AVGAS 100LL IN A SMOG VEHICLE...........the amount of tetra ethel lead TEL addative is about 50 times the amount that used to be in regular leaded gasoline. It will destroy a catalytic converter on the first tankful. Also 100LL burns extremely fast, it is best to retard the timing about 3 degrees if some is accidentally "spilled" into your gas tank. I "spill" about one quart per tank into the ghia and the bug for the lead addatives to help my engines last longer but that is a whole other topic....

I read that book too...quite an interesting read. Very random though...from 911's, to sailboats, to planes.

most of the book had a purpose... except for the merchant marine section. No purpose but to take up space.
