headlights
I cannot get my high beams to work. When I turn my lights on they pop up on the first position of the switch, but they don't turn on until I go to the second position on the switch. Is the switch bad or are the high beams located somewhere different?

High beams are activated by pulling straight back (towards you) on the turn signal lever. The first click on the button you're talking about is parking lights and activating the headlight motor, the second click turns on the low beams. Everything is working as it should, it sounds like.

Turning on the parking lights should not raise the main headlights. At least, my 924S which uses the early 944 interior and wiring did not raise the headlights with the switch at the first position.

My mistake, I think you're right Aaron. I'm out of town so I was going by memory. The high beams, however, are definitely located on the turn signal switch.

Yup. You're right about the high-beams being on the turn signal lever.
Just like they are on every modern car. Aaron

THis is how my headlights work - I have an '88 NA so might be different on an early
turn switch to 1st position - parking lights 2nd position - headlights pop up, low beam pull directional stalk towards you - flashes high beam push drectional stalk away from you - high beams on, stays pushed back turn switch back to 1st position - parking lights, headlights stay up (handy for washing car) turn switch off - all lights off, headlights go down if you try to flash the high beams with the headlights down, the fog lights flash instead. would be handy for flash to pass, if anyone here knew what that meant. nate

They have a switch like a lightswitch. First position: parking lights, headlights off and lowered. Second: Low-beams on and raised. Pull turn signal stalk towards you up to the resistance: Flash high-beams. Pull turn signal stalk towards you past the resistance (there will be a 'click"): Turns high-beams on or off. Return switch to first position: parking lights on, headlights stay raised. Return switch to Off: All lights off, headlights lower. Aaron
