temp sensor for the dme

looking at pelican site, i can only see the temp sensor {DME} for the 85 and later models. is this a common part, or is there some obscure part of pelican i have yet to find?
if anyone can come up with a part # for an "84" , i would appreciate that!.
bob.

According to my Parts and Technical Reference Catalog, it shows only one part number for all 944/S/944T from 1983 to 1988 PN
944 606 125 00. This book only goes up to 1988. HTH

Make sure you are looking at the DME temp sensor. On the later engines (late 85 and on) there are two temp sensors that look the same in the parts diagrams. The rear most is for the gauge .

hmm, i dont have any reference diagrams to go with, but when i look at the pelican site, i note that the only dme temp sensor they have listed, states from 2/85 on. my original question is/was, is this a common part for the 944, including the early one. from the 2 replies it would seem that it is. the one currently on the car, is so far out of spec, and closely follows the air temp sensor resistance. strange how both are so far out of whack, and in the same range??
thanks for the replys !

DME Temp Sensor II, 924S/944/968 All (02/85-89), Each
E-606-125-00 $27.00

Is this the one your looking at? I'd have to think this is the one you would want, but if in doubt, call them and ask. What resistance spec. did you find (FSM?). I haven't looked for it myself, but just checked the R values on a couple extra sensors I have. Starting ambient temp of approx. 64 degrees F, with 2.1K to 2.2K ohms, applied heat gun, watched a fairly steady decrease in resistance. I'm assuming they are fine. Whatch you get? Early temp. gage sensors I checked, started around 625-650 ohms IIRC. These measurements I took, were with sensors out of engine, on the bench. Of course, the DME temp. sensor is the one with the blue female connector with double spade pins in it, at the forward end of engine (like So. Cal said), but you already know this.

Pelican shows a different number for the coolant temp sensor:

Coolant Temperature Sender, 924/Turbo (1977-83), 944 (1983-01/85), Each
047-919-501A $13.50

i checked the eng temp sens{for the dme} at the dme socket, and the reading was around 0.82k, at 77f. the afm temp sens was about 0.92 at same ambient temp. i think this is causing the dme to adjust fuel/air mix for a very lean condition.
so i'm ordering the temp sens as it appears in pelican. i was just confused, as it said 2/85 and on.
thanks for all the help.
