Quick oil change question please.

Hey guys,
Its time for some fresh Mobile 1 full synthetic oil for the winter and I haven't done a oil change in any of my other 944's before...

What size is the underneath engine plastic pan nuts and the oil pan bolt?

Thanks much!

10 mm socket for the pan bolts. I think the oil drain plug is 15 mm but I would not want to bet on it. It's either 15 or 17 mm. The plug sizes on my cars are all different so I have trouble remembering.

Oil filter is going to dribble all over the place when you remove it.

84 944 can't get oil drain plug out.

Don't overtorque or forget the metal washer. Oil filter can be a biatch, drain oil and try to use a strap-type wrench.

Do you have a new oil filter already? If not, get a Mahle from Pelican (they sell the metal washers for .25 also.

Ah, the door handle tune-up. Last time I had that much fun was when I replaced the thermostat.

Once the oil filter is loose enough to turn, puncture it and let it drain into the oil pan. Then wrap it in a baggie and twist it off being quick to wrap the baggie around the open end.

Works for me.

Still get a few dribbles, but no flood!!

A strap wrench works well for the NA cars, but you need to get the fitted oil filter socket for a turbo. No room under the hood to move a strap wrench...
