car is messing with me

So I put in my new fuel pump. That was a whole saga unto itself, featuring a broken floorjack, lots of gasoline, and cursing.

So I got it all back together, and it is STILL doing the horrible stumbling at idle soon after startup. If I rev it, it just near dies when I let up. It smells bad. I even noticed some moisture in the tailpipe, although that might be just from that fact that its snowing here. So what now? I have good injectors, good fuel pump, new spark plugs, new fuel filters (the in-tank one and the after pump one)... I need detailed instructions on what to do, besides torch the car and never look back.

Ahh, but now the horrible grinding sound has gone away?

Stumbles at idle when cold, how is it when it is warm?

First WAG would be to check the cap and rotor, after that, I would check fuel\air mixture.

1) Grinding sound is gone, true.
2) When it warms up, the severity of the stumble proceeding dropped revs is reduced considerably, but its still there.
3) I'll have to get to work seeing what the cap and rotor are, what they do, and where they are located, and what to look for. Hey, nobody ever said I was smart
4) Fuel/air mixture--- do I test this through taste?

When I first start it (cold) it starts, runs nicely for like 3-4 seconds, then its like vmmm....vmmm....vmmm....vmmm. in perfect rhythm, almost like something isn't burning right. This is ****ty.
