power steering rack
picked up my car at the airport long term lot today and as I drove off the steering screeched as I turned the wheel!!!??? lost all the fluid in my absence...leaking from the rack boot on the passenger's side my question is replace the rack? as to reseal it the rack has to come off anyway? and the labor is as much as the new rebuilt rack is? the rack is about 1 year old?
any body seen a similar problem? thanks!

I would suggest installing a rebuilt rack.
Recommend ZF rebuilt racks only - the other rebuilds I have seen do not last long. AFJuvat

many places do reconditioning - send yours off to them and they'll recondition it for you and send it back. Only takes a week or so usually.

I got my new rebuilt rack from GPR $258. ZF and new boots $12. plan on having it installed on Tuesday I picked up a used pump as well just in case...I am getting a whurring noise when I start it up sounds to be coming from under the drivers door area????any ideas?

oh yeah and the rack stopped leaking ??go figure after it ran bone dry sitting in the parking lot?
the fluid in the resovoir looked like hell and the new fluid may have helped? I don't know/?????
