wheel refinishing/wheel lock question

Finally got some work done on the '44!

http://home.comcast.net/~njnagel/944wheel.html

But I have a question. I still have the stock wheel locks on the car, this is the first time however that I have had the wheels off myself. When I went to take the wheel locks off, the lock cylinders just pulled out of the wheel locks. This isn't how they are supposed to work are they? Are new wheel locks still available or should I just buy four new lug nuts? (I can't imagine late 15" phones are a hot item for thieves.) I didn't think to take pics of the locks but I can if that will help explain things...

I just dumped mine, They are a big pain and I dont think anyone is gonna take your wheels, they will take the car first. I think you need to instll the locks and then use the key to lock them back on but Im not sure

The centers shouldn't pull out with the entire lock on the wheel, but once they're unlocked/off, I believe they can come apart. I would imagine when they were new, they wouldn't do that, but mine do it too. However, they lock just fine, so I'm not worried about them.
