Motor question
Just bought an 85 944, it has been sitting for 4 years. Did a compression check and had 175-180 on three cylinders and 120 on one, squirted oil in cylinder and it did not change, am I sunk? Any other ideas? I guess I could do a leak down check, but it seems as if I have a valve issue? Any assistance or advice would be appreciated.
Thanks,

Sounds like a valve problem. check it a few times after turning the engine over, see if you get different readings.

You should do a leak down at this point.....
It could still be losing compression through the rings or as suggested... intake, exhaust valves...... or the head gasket.

Also, after sitting for 4yrs, the lifters are bone dry. The valves in the cylinder with the low compression might have a valve that is not fully seating, basically what they said!!!!
