lol...supprisingly not as much boost as a 3500 Dodge Ram can take. That comes off a huge marine diesel...just so you know...

Damn.

I'm guessing that's for a VERY large diesel - like for a ship. I believe such large turbos don't even use wastegates; boost is limited by the maximum speed of the rotating mass.

There's a wastegate but it's essentially unneeded for just that reason...

Egads. Look at the size of that ring groove!

Or the wrist pin hole!

I don't like the way it's dished on top though - too many ridges / opportunities for "hot spots". Then again with a diesel I don't think it matters so much.

I need to get a picture of the high and low pressure turbos on the ship im aboard. We run two Foster Wheeler D-Type steam generators which put out about 17,000 horsepower total. The high pressure turbine is about the size of an average house garage. The lower pressure turbine is probably the size of a 944.
