Is there a way that I can tell if a transaxle out of a 94 968 has an LSD? I can get the serial number too, if that helps..

spin the axle flange - if the other side spins in the same direction as teh one you are spinning, you have LSD - if it spins in the opposite direction, you have an open rear.

You could also check the code that is on the transmission, since it is out of the car:
G44 01 - Standard 968 box with open diff. G44 02 - Standard 968 box with LSD. G44 03 - Turbo S and RS.
