rear lights.

just noticed that my rear lights have gone south! strangely, the rear side ones are working, and the brake lights come on. they are both fed from the same source. i'm leaning toward the white multi-connector block, as to where the probable cause lies. anyone else had a similiar problem??
i assume i can pry the connector apart, and clean up the connx. i noticed lots of white gunge on the spade connectors inside the plastic bulb assembly too.
the gauge of the wiring is scaring me!
bob.

The key to this is cleaning the contacts. Use some scotchbrite and WD40. The white connector is a little hard to clean because the contacts are hard to get to. Spray some WD40 on the contacts and keep plugging in and removing the connector, that should get it clean. Also try the same thing on the bulb connections.
Good luck
Misty

yeah, the wiring is marginal at best. Contact spray cleaner should do the job, then some dielectric grease to protect the contacts from future oxidation. I did rreplace a lot of the wire with heavier gauge and more rugged connectors a few years back with no regrets. Also added sockets to the "empty" place on the tail lights. Easy job.

Hey, what did you wire them to?... I picked up a set of tail lights, bulb holders and all. I replaced the lenses, and still have the bulb holders, I considered removing one of the sockets, and putting it in my bulb holder to light up that lens. But, do we have the wiring for them to be rear fogs, or did you just tie it to the park lights or something?...
