I had a problem.

As you guys remember early this month I repaired the block and so I put a new head gasket on the the block. The helicoil/amuminum putty didn't work as well as I had hoped. I was able to screw a new bolt into the block, but I felt it giving before I reached the 15 lb-ft torque. So it is holding but not as good as plained. I am not noticing any leakage so I will let you know when and if it does fail.

I still have a leaking oil seal, so it looks like I will need to buy that flywheel holder after all. . . . well what can I say it was a $2500 porsche.

Happy New Year,

which bolts r u talking about ?

the bolts which hold the cylinder head down or the bolts which hold the rocker cover (cam tower cover down) ?

I think you are talking about the latter.

is only 1 bolt gone ?

ko I thnik helicoil is better, no ali putty ! or get it properly done by a machine shop

look out for small oil seepage but if its the rocker cover then that is "NOT" too critical, but you will need to keep an eye on it

Sorry Adrian, the previous thread started on 12/03/04.
Here are pics from that thread, which will make this clear.

This is how it was when I bought the car.
