read the first few posts, didn't read the rest so here ya go: You want the zip of a turbo, buy a turbo. If you have the means, I highly recoment it. I've driven both, and when you put yer foot to the floor, you know where the extra money went. If you just can't leave it alone, Caloway. Todd Holyoak has one on his pre 85.5 car and sez since the n/a was lighter than the post 85.5 cars, so there may be an advantive.
Best bang for the buck for the na? Wilk's chip. Auntie Wilk makes a good product, and I stand behind the one I bought: 100% exceeded my expections. Again, use the search bar, it's a thing of beauty. Welcome to the board! I'm the A-hole here, I show up every now and then and say mean stuff that doesn't really make a lot of sense. glad we met early. If you run into a goon named Frank B., don't borrow any money from him and don't let him near your cat. edit: uh-huh, see? case in point.

Wow. Thanks. Tjere's a lot of info here, I think I'll stick to tweaking my n/a for the time being and buy a turbo in some time in the future. Sounds like the best way to go.

If you really want, you can add a turbo to an N/A, but what everybody is getting at, is it'll be very expensive to do (will probably cost more than the price difference between an NA and a 951), and it still won't be as good as a 951.
If you have a good metalworking ability, and really want a complicated turbo system design and fabrication project, then go for it. I have considered doing it, only because i'm an engineer, and I like a challenge, not because i'm trying to get a turbo car cheap. Somebody mentioned a aftermarket EFI system. Absolutely, that's probably what you would have to do, but holy cow! talk about adding cost, and many, many, many hours spent trying to program the thing so the car runs well. Now, that being said, I'm not quite sure i understand european car insurance, but i believe it's WAY more expensive to insure a turbo car, therefore some people convert their non-turbo cars in an effort to evade huge insurance premiums. This might make it worth it. I have no idea what would happen if you did this, and ever got into an accident with "frankenstein". Would they deny coverage? Bottom line: adding a turbo to an NA is a complicated and expensive proposition, but it's not impossible either.
