Going to sell my 951...help
Hi,
It is just a matter of time. I've had my 86 951 (944 Turbo) for about 13 years. I want to price it fair so I'm looking for suggestions. Here is a bit of history. 143,800 miles on it now. The belt water pump and small vacuum hoses changed at the local P-dealer about 4-5k ago. Clutch was changed at 80k. Oil has been changed mostly by me so I didn't do great a job of record keeping. My hope is that most people will realize that you don't keep a car for 13 years and NOT take care of it. Anyway, the half shafts were changed at 90k. The current problems are; Cracked windshield but I will probably get it fixed as it is covered A annoying rear seal oil leak....drips on the exhaust and the shop said let it go until the clutch gets changed. Needs new brakes A/C stopped working, I know it is the compressor, everything else has been changed! Paint is a bit faded (Guards Red) Had a run in with a dog and the left front headlight trim, black plastic around the lamp is gone. Still works but when retracted it sits a bit low. Interior is fair. No cracks on the dash or seats. The center armrest thing has a small rip. Sorry for the long post. If pictures will help I may take some tomorrow. I have records of the work listed above and more. I think I put 2-3k miles on it last year. Thanks {edited for grammar} Last edited by KevC; 01-18-2005 at 04:55 PM.. |

Pictures would help alot!!!! Listing your location would help also, maybe somebody nearby would be interested in it.

No dash cracks? That's pretty rare.
Let it go until the clutch gets changed, are you implying it may need a clutch soon? As mentioned, pics are always great.

Get the windscreen fixed for sure. It is a high dollar item (has integrated antenna)

I will get the windshield for sure. But the antenna sucked so if you look at the rear I installed an amplified Fuba antenna

Actually I would have been more correct in saying that, compared to the reception I'm getting now it sucked. Yes the antenna was connected to power as my car had the original radio/equipment.
The 968 also did away with the windshield antenna. The reason for better reception is simple, most if not all the RF noise is in the engine compartment. Moving the antenna away from this improves things. |

well with a rear main leaking on the exhaust.........broken windshield and all the other issues...........
YOu are looking a 2K for the rear seal (including new clutch) SO 5K to get rid of it fast. You could hold for 6K but thats a stretch with the upcoming work it needs....

Although my wife thinks I should keep it. I'm pretty sure I'm going to sell it and get a Boxster or something in a year or two down the road. The plan is to get the windshield fixed late next month and then she is up for sale, maybe brakes too.
Anyone remember the option codes? C02,G80,220,418,454,474,533,650,946 |
