What does the Clutch Pedal Switch do??

Just curious what this certain switch does.

Whenever I depress my clutch pedal, I hear a "click" sound - only does it when the car is running. Shut her down and it doesn't click when you depress the pedal.

What is that all about??

May be a cruse controle switch.
Sometimes I have to pull up on my clutch to get my cruse controle to work.

The switch on the clutch pedal support is to release and re-engage the cruise control when you press the clutch in. If you need to pull up on your clutch pedal to make your CC work, then you need to adjust the switch. Just screw it out a couple of turns and retighten it, It takes a 17mm socket.

Would that perhaps be the cause of the "clicking" sound I hear when I let the clutch pedal out??? If not, what else could cause that noice?? It's not the pedal itself, as it doesn't do it when the car is shut off.

Still stumped on this one.........

Can't think of anything else that it could be. Start the car, put it in neutral engage the emergency brake and get down there and push it by hand, listening to see. You cant miss the switch.

I tried that and it only "clicks" when I'm switching gears. It doesn't "click" if it's in neutral. Weird......I don't know - just the other day, it stopped doing it for about 4-5 hours and then started doing it again.

I have been getting a slight vibration in my shift knob, sometimes it makes a noise, like there is a loose screw in the knob itself, but when I push the knob up or down or left or right, the vibration lessens. I'm guessing the knob will vibrate some, no??

Are you sure that the sound you're hearing isn't coming through your speakers? Your radio might be picking up the noise from the switch. An AC interference sort of thing.

I never thought of that!!!

It does seem like the sound is isolated to the area around the pedal, but it could be coming thru the speakers and I'm "just hearing it" coming from the pedal. I'll check that out - that may explain why I don't hear anything with the car off.

Boyeee-
did you find out the problem? i have the same one. sometimes the clutch clicks, sometimes it doesnt. i think it is only when the car is on. i'll check the cruise control switch first--my cruise is out as it is.

I never did find out what thet noise was; and it would come and go, for the most part. Don't have the 944S anymore.

My guess would be that cruise-control switch.

He he - yes, that's what I've been told by a few different people so far.

I've had it one year now and so far, so good. Just a timing belt replacement - a few bulbs replaced here and there - rattly power windows fixed and some cleaning.

Car sat on a lot on and off for like 3-4 years (my uncle owned it). Was driven 600 miles in three years...has around 50,000 miles on it now. It ran pretty rough at first - but some injection cleaner, and nice jiggle on the MAF plug and all was good. Still need a new MAF (have one waiting to go in), as when I switched it with a known good MAF, the other car displayed the same bad symptoms (stumble at start up and a slightly high idle).

I like the 928 - it's very much alike and different than the 944. Drives "heavier" (but don't most cars feel that way after driving a 944?), but that V-8 sure does make up for that small difference in handling - do these things ever fly when you hit the kickdown switch, especially on the highway. It's more of a "cruiser", what with it being automatic and all - but I do sometimes take advantage of the Merc tranny and shift away and play like I'm a standard driver.

Regardless how much I am enjoying the 928, a 944 Turbo WILL be in the garage soon enough!
