OEM Oil 968
Hi all:
Anyone know what Porsche put in the crankcase of the 92 968 for oil? The car uses Mobil 1 now, but it consumes enough of it to make the engine light come on when it's 3/4 quart low (which is too frequently), and I want to make sure it has what was specified originally. I doubt it was synthetic, but I'm sure you guys know the real answer. Thanks! Pat

It was shell synthetic, and I don't believe that it is available anymore.
Some cars oil level warning system is overly sensitive (to the point where they come on when the car is going uphill). Oil consumption specification for a 968 is 1 liter every 1000 km (1 quart\600 miles) If you are consuming more oil than that, you should start looking for leaks or find out why the car is consuming so much oil. Thanks!
Is there an adjustment on the oil level sensor to make that annoyance go away? There are zero leaks, and oil consumption is close to what you stated. I have to change the oil tomorrow, Mobil 1 15W-50 Pat
