starter solenoid

Is it possible to buy a starter soleniod with out buying a whole new starter. My mechanic just told me that the starter on my car looks fairly new but the solenoid is cracked. I asked him if he just just get the solenoid but I was told no.

Anyone have a good used solenoid or know where I can buy one new?

When was the last time you changed your timing and balance belts and/or cam chain and tensioner?

I can get all the solenoids you want for 30 something, including shipping in the lower 48 USA.

They are cheap and easy to replace.

I got the solenoid for $25 and a set of brushes for $12.50 from

They had to order the solenoid.

I'm glad to see this thread... the smaller bolt on my solenoid is partially stripped, so I'll be replacing that soon.
