I recently bought four very nice FUCHS 6's and 7's (evidently from an 89 Carrera) with some trepidation because the offsets were not as spec'd for my 944. I brought them home and with fingers crossed mounted them up. All appeared to be thumbs up until a test drive revealed pretty bad rubbing of LEFT REAR tire when going over bumps. The tire is hitting the top of the fender lip and rubbing not only the top of the tire but the side wall and sort of chewing it up a bit/mild slicing. Ouch. That is the only wheel that rubs.
When parked I noticed the body seems to sit lower down over the left rear wheel than the right rear wheel. Why? Is that a Shock adjustment? Why doesn't the Right Rear rub too? I realize that 944 calls for OFFSET of 54mm each corner of the car and the Fuchs rear offset is (gulp) 23mm. So I was taking a risk even trying this match-up. The Fuchs fronts are 34mm offset and seem to be fine. I am thinking I am resigned to having to sell the beautiful Fuchs and chalk it up to not researching/believing that it had to be 54 offset. I was *hoping that the Fuchs would fit. They sure looked good. Anyone have any brilliant ideas for me? I thought about trying to roll the fender lip but with the amount of rubbing I think I'd royally mess up the fender. My dream would be to discover some spacer I could take off the axle easily. Thanks for any helpful sugs.

no fix that I'm aware of but normally early offset (23mm) will not fit the later cars.

Look at the clearance on the left and on the right. For some reason, I have seen that the 944 is different side to side. Measured three of them over the years. Anyone else?

You could roll the fender lip.

late offset cars will NOT work with early offset wheels, I don't care what you do, unless you have some muge flares, they will just not work, sorry.

With how much the sidewall is rubbing, the fenders can't be rolled that much.
