repair manual 924s/944

Does anyone have a workshop manual for an 87 924s or 944? This car has drained me of all my money and just when i thought taken care of everything, the timing belt snapped. i have taken very good care of it even tho it pretty much cost me my job. since i spent the last of my money fixing everything else, i dont have enough to even have it towed to the proper place, much less getting it fixed be a repair shop. If someone can provide me with a copy or download of a Haynes or something, that would be great considering that i have to do this myself.

Go to Clarks-Garage...closest thing to a repair manual on-line.

Manuals or not it's going to cost you a minimum of $500 if you pull the head yourself.

When was the last time you changed your timing and balance belts and/or cam chain and tensioner?

Gaskets and valves and the belts -- of course. Does not include machine shop costs as you can lap the valves in yourself to get it back running as cheaply as possible.

You will need a special 6mm extended allen bit 3/8" drive to get the cam housing bolts loose.

Got a deal on those valves -- if they are the correct ones. I couldn't find them for less that $40 each. Needed six.

Used vaves. Mine were new.

May not be lappable. You may have to take it to a machine shop. They may or may not do a valve grind if the valve guides need to be replace.

Subject to how old everything is and how bad,you will need:
Head gasket set, plus the two gaskets for manifold to front pipe.
Front engine seal set, with the sleeves for the balance seals.
Crank seal and o-ring
Water pump, gasket and mounting kit. (includes the thermostat)
All the tensioners and rollers
AC and power steering belts
Timing and balance shaft belt.
Probably a distributor cap and rotor arm.
Oil and filter
The proper coolant.
Make sure you have manual printed out and the right tools.

As an additional on-line guide, the Porsche Workshop Manual is available at http://www.cannell.co.uk/944%20Reference.htm

Recommend downloading the chapter you need due to large file size and long time required in accessing the pages directly.

I always recommend replacing the crank seal when you go this deep into a 944. The oil pump drive also needs changing too or it will leak..again. As it's only some more labor time and will need doing anyway, should be replaced.

Depending on what is wring, you may not have to change your seals - short answer, if the rear belt cover is oily, you need to change your seals.

You should DEFINATELY replace your tensioners and roller. If yo have one that is siezing up, you will get your belt on, only to have the belt break again in a short period of time.
