Looking at STi, what do you guys think?

Hey guys, well I graduated college a month ago and I know have a full time job. Looks like I will be getting another job starting in August in MN and I am looking for a more reliable AWD car to handle the weather up there (don't worry I will be keeping the 944). The link to the ad for the car is here . This person is in my hometown but the car evidently is not from this email I got back from him (see below). What do you guys think of this? It is a incredibly good price if it is not a scam. Can anyone do a carfax for me, because I would really appreciate it .

Hello,
I received your email regarding my car.
The car is in perfect condition, with no scarches on it,no dammage.
My father, who died 1 month ago was a owner of the Simson'S Garage and this car it is the last from the stock.
You will have to made a deposit on front. All the manuals
and the original documents are in English. It is
made for US market and has US specs on it. The buyer will receive this
along with all papers and recipts that he needs
to register it in his name.He will receive the TITLE,keys, owner
manual...It has a Clear Title and it is in Showroom Condition.
The car is in,UK and it will be shipped from here on my expence
so,please REPLY WITH YOUR NAME AND SHIPPING ADDRESS IN YOUR NEXT EMAIL.
Also, I have to let you know that I want a proof that
you have all the money availble for this deal as I will shipp it in the
same day or next day morning ,after you proove to me
that you are the real buyer. The most important thing in all my activity
here is that I am affiliated at SquareTrade,WWW.squaretrade.com,and autotrader.com
The finacial part of this deal will be manage by them.Let me know
if this is ok with you,so that we can move forward
with this deal!I must let you know that the first buyer who will make
the deposit will be the owner .
Regards!

Beware... The Escrow scam is a fairly new one. Get someone to see the car in person. Alternatively ask to use a more reputable escrow service.

99% chance that this is a scam.

It sounds like he wanted a deposit as a sign of commitment to the deal before he had it shipped. I just sent him another email full of questions that will hopefully clarify whether this is legit or not. I know a couple people in the UK, and hopefully one of them is close to where this car is located and can check it out for me. I will keep you guys posted.

This is a total scam...run away, just went through this with a friend of mine, escrow company is a scam, they take your deposit and run....The more emails you trade with him the more apparent it will become....

$9000 for an STI?!? IS it wrecked?

There's NO WAY anyone would sell a 2004 STI for that price. It's definately a scam - run away! That's a 25,000 car used!

This was just on the program Dateline a couple nights ago.....only it was a couple of church women doing the client hunting. They said they were selling off an estate of "dream car deals" from the death of some billionaire.......full size trucks at like $2000.00 brand new. They took lots of deposits, no one ever got a car or truck....,millions of dollars went bye-bye

So he hasn't emailed me back since I questioned the heck out of him and confronted him with the possibility of it being a scam... so I am guessing it definately was. I was thinking there was probably something wrong with the car when I first replied to the ad, thinking that I would have a few months to fix it before winter came when I would really need it. If he doesnt get back to me by tomorrow I will notify autotrader about this. Thanks for the info and feedback guys, much appreciated

did you guys look at the miles and year? Who drives a car as uncomfertable as an STi for almost 37,000 miles in less than one year? Maybe it's not an STi and his dad's shop just made it on par with one

Just ask yourself, why? Why would someone sell a 25k car for 9k? If it's too good to be true, it is, so don't fall for it.
