more problems

Having not driven my 924 for some time due to my 944, with summer here i finally got her road legal today.Thing is the steering (not power steering) doesn't seem to be as it used to.At times it's quite hard to turn the steering wheel - especially on taking a sharp corner, but this afternoon i pulled into a parking space doing a full right hand lock and there was a bad clicking noise which appeared to be coming through the steering wheel itself - what's the likely problem?could it be the ball joints seizing?

The steering link u-joints are seizing up. Not an uncommon effect of leaving the older 924's sitting for a length of time.

A bit of grease is called for then? or does it mean they're probably knackered?

No way to grease them. Have to replace the link. Someone on your side of the pond found a new or rebuilt for about $110 USD recently. Might have been a serviceman in Germany.

Problem solved - there was a what looks like a "home-made" earth wire wrapped fairly tight around the steering column which was tightening up
on turns.I've took it off - not sure what it was for - but steering is fine now.Strange!
