Oil Return Tube O-Ring (Rebuild)
Putting 84' 944na motor back together and I'm stumped. The oil return tube calls for an O-ring (see photo - right hand side). But there's nothing to keep the o-ring in place. Can anyone shed light on this.
Thanks, Scott ![]() |

Yep, no O-ring there, it's not under pressure, or suction, and if it leaked there, it would just run down the outside of the tube, instead of the inside. There is a large clear rectangular O-ring for the pickup tube though

Thanks Zero,
Yes, suction tube seal is obvious although victor reinz makes it challenging with engine rebuild kits. PET shows a stub on the end of the return tube which would make it easy for o-ring install. At some point Porsche must have done away with the idea. Anyone with a cross-reference to VR gasket sets in the motor rebuild kit? Thanks, Scott |
