Question auto tranny problem

does anyone know if you can bypass or jump out the neutral
start or safety switch. sometimes it does not know if it is in
park or neutral and will not start. i can shift it between park
and neutral a few times and then it will start.1986 944

gear selector 'interlock' switch has a pair of red/black wires that must connect to each other (through the switch) to supply 12 volts to the starter.

interlock switch is mounted to the gear selector bracket.
