You thought 944 parts were expensive...

Was paging through the updated catalog for Porsche parts (no, not here at Pelican) - Carrera GT parts have finally been released for aftermarket sale

Just a random sampling - I'm listing MSRP

Brake Pad Set (F or R): $392.80
Brake Caliper, Front: $4212.98
Brake Caliper, Rear: $3991.88
Brake Rotor: $7342.99
Brake Pad Wear Sensor: $82.99
Coolant Expansion Tank: $570.28
Radiator, Center: $1649.60
Radiator, left or right: $1581.32
Water pump: $3696.19
Spark Plug: $41.84 each, 10 required
Intake Valve: $417.00 each, 20 required
Exhaust Valve: $432.83 each, 20 required
Oil Pump: $8111.78
Muffler: $7849.56
Tie Rod End: $870.63
Power Steering Pump: $855.49
Coolant: $49.00\gallon (same as 986, 996, 955)

Suddenly, 944 parts don't seem so bad, do they?

UHmmmm makes you wonder if the labor cost still surpasses the parts prices when fixing one of those..........

No damn wonder Porsche is profitable. Like P.T. Barnum once said "There is a sucker born every minute...and two to take him..."

Thats about what I paid for my 944. Yikes.

My girlfriend works customer service at a porsche dealer. She gets a discount on parts, she pays dealer cost + 10%. List price vs. her price is usually between a 60 to 100% markup.

so you get a blow job with these right? or do they just give you some KY before you bend over?

I was in Phoenix several months ago and visited a Porsche dealership. A damaged C-GT was in the shop (right next to a 944). The parts department was quite happy because their volume was going to be far above expectations for the month!

True, but the brake rotors and exhaust system were the exact same parts as a early-model VW Rabbit (the only thing different are the part numbers).
