jeez, what now?
well, its been only 4 days since my last repair was done, and now i have another to attend to. just as i'm approaching home, i push the clutch in, and it does not come fully back up ? its about halfway up its travel. it still releases, but catches really close up to the firewall . is this just an adjustment required, or is it something darker??
i recently measured the actuating arm, and its at 25mm. any idea's ?? bob.

yes, that probably sounds about right. i think i have replaced 2 of them , in the last 4 years. last time, the master let go, and as i put my foot on the clutch pedal, it slipped off , because of the leak!! did not have the "broken leg" effect either time, so i was kinda stumped at first.

I've seen this kind of post a number of times... the car's owner replaces the master or slave cyllinder only to see the other one go in a short amount of time.
It's probably the slave.

just tried bleeding the slave cylinder, and some bubbles came out initially, then pure fluid. the pedal still stays about halfway up, and "catches" about 2 inchs from the firewall. i guess the slave has failed internally. if it was full of fluid, and at pressure, it would hold as normal. i looked at all the hoses, and they seemed fine.
ah well, back to the garage! guess i should just take my pants down, and lay over the desk! after being on a 32 hour week, for the last 6 months, i'm finally getting some hours, and have no time to work on the car, so i will have to bite the bullet yet again. thanks for the input! bob.

i came around to replacing the master and slave in my car... 3 hours from start to finish, and about $130 CDN worth of brand new parts (new master, new slave)...
I'd say that's a pretty cheap repair, considering other things on this car.

Yeah, you popped a slave again.
NOS cylinders - the fluid is probably pusing past the seal. AFJuvat

hi AF ! the joys of wrenching on your car, especially on a long weekend, when the weather is perfect too!
well, i took off the slave cylinder, and no sign of leakage past the seals? i also took off the master, and no fluid in the rubber boot, or again, no sign of any leak??? what i did notice, is that as i was under the dash, it was extremely easy to move the clutch pedal all the way in, using my hand. almost like there was no fluid at all. i did this before i started to remove both cylinders. the hose from reservoir to master is perfect, as is the combo rubber/steel pipe going to the slave? i was hoping to see something obvious, but apparently not! anyhoo, will get my new cylinders, and install, bleed whole system, and go from there. bob.

AF. i should have mentioned that just before the pedal started playing up, i did notice that the "feel" of the pedal pessure seemed to increase by a marked amount, then it went limp!! {the pedal, right!}
not sure how to interpret this?

Your cylinders seem to be going bad. Make sure that the line from master to slave is undamaged, and that the rubber parts are not swollen closed.
