Help!!Rear boot lock mechanism

Tried in vain to get the mechanism on the rear boot lock on my 944 cab working this afternoon.I've replaced the switch by the footwell and that's working now ok but i can't get the cable mech to work properly at all.Is there any reference guide anywhere before i start to use brute force and ignorance? It was partially disconnected by the previous owner so i haven't had much of a guide to help.

I've just fixed mine but its not a cab, but how different can they be ;-). I had 2 probs with mine there was a poor connection to the motor with the electric cable (wd-40 helped) once the motor was going the main wire cable was stretched but this can be adjusted for more tension however if its is too bad will need replaced otherwise it won't pull the locks far enough to open.

There are 2 rods and a wire cable on mine the cable runs from the key lock to the motor and the other 2 rods go left and right to the hatch pin locks. If your key opens the hatch then the prob is with the connection between the motor and the key lock.

There is a fastener (costs about 10p) that holds the wire cable onto the key lock it falls off, the cable doesn't engage and the motor won't release the hatch.

Clear as mud maybe needs pics but long story short there should be 2 metal rods and a cable in the boot check they are all connected at each end.

If you can't get into the boot at all at the moment your really in the **** because even in the hatchback its an pain to manually open the boot without key or switch (not technically difficult just a contortion act!).

Cheers strath,.... well i've just spent the last 4 hours on this t**t of a job and i'm not any further advanced than when i started which leads me to think the cable may be at fault.
When you press the boot switch it operates the motor now but doesn't open the boot lock at all.
When you use the key the boot will open (quite loudly) and again the motor turns but the cable just looks like it's twisting and only moves a fraction.
Accidentaly closed the boot - eventually managed to climbe in far enough to undo the bolts attaching the latch to the boot - what a situation!I think even Houdini would have turned his nose up!
I now give up!!
