Talking 944 performance upgrade

I have a 1984 Porsche 944 n/a and have done some modest performance upgrades - K&N Air filter, 9mm wires, high output coil, free flow exhaust. I am considering upgrading my fuel injectors to get more fuel in the cylinders and hopefully more horsepower. Do late model or Turbo injectors improve HP? Whats the difference between the early model, late model and turbo injectors?
Thanks

None of that will make any difference, use the FRWilk chip, AFTER you have done the timing belt, water pump, oil cooler seals, suspension and tires....

I wouldnt bother with different injectors, You do not need them and you wont see any HP gain, The only reason to be adding more fuel is if you are adding more air ex. MAF conversion, Turbo, SC. Other then that on a NA setup the stock injectors can flow more then enought fuel. If your looking for better performance get FR-wilks Power Prom 2 chip, best bang for the buck

putting freer-flowing injectors - or a freer-flowing air filter, for that matter - will do JACK SQUAT if the air/fuel computer's programming isn't altered. The engine will only allow what the computer demands... which brings us to the best 944 upgrade available:

FRWilk's PowerProm chip. It is absolutely amazing. Order it now, because you have a 1984 car and he is ceasing production of the early car adapter board soon.

From what you've done already, you're looking at maybe, on a good day, under the best conditions, an extra 2 to 5 hp near redline. Probably lost some low-end torque with that exhaust "upgrade" though so net/net you're looking at no real gain. Bigger injectors will only make you run too rich and foul plugs.

well, what those upgrades WILL do is make the ignition system run more efficiently. So, in situations where other cars might loose power due to ineffecient firing, with those upgrades he won't lose that power.

Still, all that money could have been put in to a PowerProm, which would have yielded a much higher net gain in performance.

All you need to do is make sure your car is up to date maitenence wise. No need to change anything else.

not much at peak, but a lot in the low-end. You really feel the car pull a lot stronger from low RPM. There are dyno charts somewhere in this forum, do a search.

In reality you get no more than 2-3 HP that shows up on a dyno. Of course you may say you get that type of varitation between dyno runs!

The difference you do see on the dyno is the powerband, which starts at a much lower rpm compared to running without the chip. This is achieved by changing the fuel maps and advancing ignition. All that extra 'umph' you feel after ~3500+ rpms you feel in my opinion just under ~2500rpms. Makes the car much more 'driveable' so to speak.

In my opinion the two top drivability upgrades you could do (only top two...because thats all thats available for our cars really!) are the FR Wilk chip and the circular throttle cam. The throttle cam really increases the response of the engine, mostly because you are going to a more direct relationship between pedal travel and throttle body movement.

It's inexpensive. Doesn't really "upgrade" anything, just makes the throttle "jumpier"

it makes it really hard to shift smoothly into second.

Turbos already have a circular throttle cam. Only the NA cars have the long arm on the throttle cam so that's not an upgrade path for the 951.

No, it doesn't... At least, it sure didn't on my '89 2.7.

The throttle cam is awsome, I did mine buy drilling the stock one out.
It dosen't give you more power but it feels awsome, I will never go back. Do a search for throttle cam to see how to do it yourself, or buy one for $29.95. Its worth it if your not mechanical.
