Cool just got back from first DE

WOW. I cant believe how much fun I had. I learned alot about how important tire pressure and tempreture was. I spun right off the bat becuase my tire pressure in the rear of the car was way off. On the first run my instructor kept saying how the car shouldnt be slideing around like it was and told me it was not like a 944 to do that. The second run went way better. I wasnt expecting to drive the car really hard... I wasnt expecting to get over 4,000 rpm becuase I was afraid to hurt the car... After the first run I was from 4500 to 6000 the rest of the way.. I have never ran the car that hard and It loved every second of it....right when I thought it was gonna blow it kept right on chugging. I even got to pass some people a 930 turbo that was going very slow and a older 911.. bust most of the time i was getting passed... THe 944 definately isnt a straight away car...I was keeping up with cars with a whole lot more horse power in the corners and the get blowed away in the straights. I even got to do some drifting and 4 wheel slides....I loved how that felt. LOTs of fun. I was suprised that engine did not use one drop of oil the whole 2 days I kept checking it. My instructor was a real nice guy with a 83 model 944 with some slicks and some suspension mods... It handled very well I was very suprised at how it just stuck to the track no matter what. His comments on my driveing were very good I thought. He said he couldnt believe how smooth I was to have never been on a track before. He also said that I shifted very smooth and postive. He told me at the end that I should be able to do one more DE in green group then after that I would probably move to blue group then be solo.I cant wait for the next one and hopefully by then I will have better pads and rotors and better struts and shocks.

Be careful. I did my first DE a few years ago, and now my car has a roll cage and really big numbers on the doors.

Ah, DE's are so tempting to do. I only started autocrossing my car last season. DE's are much more expensive considering i am on a student's budget. Not to mention this car is my daily driver, if anything goes wrong im in for some serious inconvience.

Maybe in a couple of years...

Be cautious... you may soon find yourself acquiring another one just for the track!

Turn back before you get hooked...like the rest of us.

Welcome to the most expensive hobby you will ever find.

Well I have 2 944s the one that i took is a daily driver and the convertable for the most part just sets around.... I have 3 vehicles total so if one quits im not in any big trouble. Me and my girlfriend are already planning to go back again in march. We are going to upgrade the shocks and brakes before we go back though. I am itching to go back right now. But i guess i can hold off. I cant wait till I get some extra money to pour into the car for more modifications.

Welcome to the addiction!

I did my first event back in 2001. Now, I'm not only a DE driver, I'm the track tech co-chair for my PCA region, three years running! I'm also on the NNJR PCA board of govenors.

There are worse addictions - illegal drug use, yachting, money laundering, golf...

I dont mind one bit if you post pic....thanks! By the way everybody that red 944 in the pictures caused me to run into the rumble strips becuase i was watching him in my rear view....that car is really fast compared to mine!!! I got passed several times by him....Even my instructor could not believe how much power that car has!!! lol.... I had a blast herbert. I wont make it to VIr but i am hopeing to catch the next one at CMP I need to repalce the wheel bearing in the back before i drive it any more though. I think I have almost driven the "wheels" off this car.

see ya

DE stands for:

Driver Education...

Also for Driver Error...usually occurs at the same event!
