A bit Ticked... please read
Well, i finally got the starter motor i won off of ebay and installed it.
Before bidding on the motor i knew that just any starter wouldnt work, and that some starters (non-944 starters) would crank the motor backwards... Which is why i only placed a bid after reading that it was a 944 starter, and had been used for one month. So i got it all in, cranked the motor.... no start... so i grew suspicious. I popped her in first gear, and cranked her... and sure enough the car went backwards. the auction is here So im looking for advice.... 1) theres no way i could have possibly wired it backwards... right? It is cranking. 2) Has this done any damage to my car? 3) What kind of action should i take against the ebay seller? |
No way you could have wired it backwards
Damage: Possible - it is possible for the belt to jump timing when run backwards Full refund - you don't have much recourse other than that. AFJ |
Good way to waste time and money......

Ok, I got a real starter from paragon and it is installed.
The bearing on my last starter was the issue. Now **sometimes** when i start my car, i get a different kind of grinding sound... it seems when i start my car with the radio on it always happens. So this leads me to believe its a bad connection on the starter.... almost sounds like the solenoid isnt fully engaging. Ill check it out more closely tommorow, but any thoughts? |
how do the teeth look on the flywheel?
|
That is too bad, I wonder why anyone would buy anything from ebay to begin with?
Good luck/skill! |
I decided to start from scratch, so i took the motor off..... and put it back on. Problem Solved. The only thing i can think of... is that i may have reversed the 2 bolts that hold the motor on. Pretty stupid move on my part... but in the whole fiasco i have gone through I may have very possibly done this. Also, the motor, and flywheel arent damaged.
