Angry no p-car wave!

Just got back from lunch. Was stopped at a light, another 944 identical to mine pulls right up next to me. I look over smile, give a nod and wave, tell the driver "thats in nice shape".
The guy ( or I'm pretty sure, a very unfortunate looking woman), I'm still trying to figure out what it was, just keeps looking straight ahead. Not even glance over at me.
Guess the stuck up drivers are not limited to Boxster drivers.

I offer my sincere appologies to all the Boxster drivers I have insulted in the past.

Well Ok not all of ya's....

P.S. to the Red 944 driver in Staten Island on Richmond ave today,If you are a member here, I send you the NY one fingered salute!!

Ouch. Was he/she on the cell phone? Stereo too loud? Deaf?

Some people are oblivious. I am guilty of just noticing a Mini drive past me and see the wave only to realize it was too late for me to return the favor.

Once I'm actualy stopped at a light, I'm totaly focused on the interesection. I failed to notice a 911 behind me until the light turned green and I noticed in my mirror.

Most Porsche people know why I'm waving, but funny when you wave to another nice car and you can cleary see they are thinking "Do I know this guy?"

Instead of waving, a "thumbs up" is generally understood.

Vinman: sometimes, unfortunately, people will zone out at a stoplight.
Next time, just yell, "HEY DUMMY IN THE PORSCH" to get their attention.

-Z-man.

PS: If they correct you and say, "It's a PORSCH-A" but don't wave back, then you have just had an encounter with a Porsche snob.

That's nothing, one time I was sitting at a light on a 3 or 4 lane-wide road, and a nice 911 pulls up beside me while I'm in my 951. I look over and he's looking at me, so I give him the thumbs up, and he gives me the finger, then blows through a red light....

That makes the snobs look like nice people.

When I'm in my 69 Firebird, I get the looks and smiles but I'v noticed a couple things since I got my Porsche. I started getting the wave from other Porsche guys but there are a few that do the ignore stare. Periferal visions not that bad. Kind of hard not to notice another Porsche passing you in a slow moving parking lot but their staring straight forward trying to ignore you like their's is better than yours. Had a 944 do that just last week. You can usually tell the ones that will do that. Car's all flash, stickes and spoilers, high and mighty. Then there's the Boxters here, usually owned by young guys trying to Buy cool. And usually the one's that can neither afford it nor know how to change a tire. My friends daughters husband got one last year. Were talking and I happen to mention I just got a Porsche. He's all smiles till I answer It's a 924S then the conversation abruptly stopped. *********!

It is funny, I think many people are just totally oblivious to whats going on around them...

They are the ones who should take the bus or ride a bike!

not too many 944 cars here in windsor, but the ones i see, usually wave back. i keep seeing the same 928 gt, out crusin", and he always waves!
however, recently, i keep seeing the same two guys, about town, one has a regular 911, and the other is a 996 turbo. the turbo guy is waaaay cool, and at the lights, we have a short conversation/mutual admiration thing, for porsche's in general, AND, he does not blow me away, when the lights change. the other guy, every time our paths cross, he feels he has to blow me away, and he does very convincingly, in a straight line. i put his nose out of joint, last week, when i shot past him on a fast bend, two lanes, and on the outside too! as he was braking to a speed more to his comfort, but from the look on his face, he did not expect me to sail past him, and i took great pleasure in showing him a big smile, as if to say, you may have a much faster car, but you have no conception, of how to drive it as it was intended!
now he is really bent out of shape, especially when i wave at him!!

A few years back, I had both a 944 and a turbo Corvair, so I belonged to PCA and NHRA. NEVER heard a disparaging word from members of NHRA about someone else's ride. There was true admiration whether the car was highly modified or kept as original as possible. Both of my "cars" were welcome at get-togethers.

Just an interesting observation.

And some people wonder why I do didn't belong to the local PCA back east.....
