quick-release hub
I was thinking of getting a Momo wheel, and it appears that quick-release hubs are less expensive than the hub adapter that Momo makes for the 944... are they interchangable? I guess what I am asking is, would the quick-release hub replace the Momo hub, or would you need the Momo hub AS WELL?

I have a quick-release with my Momo wheel. But it's a race type - the hex had to be welded onto the steering column, it wasn't a bolt-on type I'm guessing you're after. Mind you, it only cost about $30-60 IIRC. It did not bolt up to the Momo wheel, and I had to make my own adapter.
![]() I think Geo's involved with a company that does sell good stuff like that - bolt-on quick-release for less than Momo wants - but I don't have the linky handy.

We use the Smart Racing quick release hub..it bolts to the existing Momo hub and moves the wheel back a little. It's a straight bolt-up and they work. For street use it's a little over the top. You will need the Momo hub as well.

Thanks Vaughan. We are currently out of stock due to supplier issues.
But, on to the question at hand. Quick Releases: 1) You can buy a QR mechanism fairly cheaply, although most are so-so. We spent a lot of time looking for a good mechanism without having to sell the farm. If you buy just the mechanism you need a way to attach it to the steering column and a way to attach the steering wheel unless you have a steering with with a 3-bolt pattern (most of these are junk). 2) There are QR adapters that bolt to a MOMO or Sparco hub adapter, but you still need the hub adapter. The Smart Racing is one of these. LTB Motorsports offers one as do we. These are the most common. 3) There are a limited few QR adapters that are total bolt-on that do not require the MOMO or Sparco hub adapter. We offer one and quite frankly, I've yet to see anything near as good for anywhere near the money. Now if we could resolve our supplier issues. ![]() IMHO none of these QR devices should be used on a street car as they do not have a provision for a horn. There are some cheepos that have been sold on eBay that have a horn provision and since they are used with a MOMO or Sparco hub adapter, you still retain the collapsable section that is extremely importatn in a road car. In the end, none of these solutions is cheaper for a road car than just buying the MOMO or Sparco hub adapter.
