any chance you popped a fuse? do you have 12volts at the pump when starting the engine?

I have disassembled a fuel pump..The motor is 95% of the volume, the pump is a tiny thing in the inlet area. Crud gets in the pump mechanism and can stall the motor. A strange design, sensitive to dirt. Cleaning the tank filter and the tank itself can help. Do you have a 12 volt source other than the battery/ Sometimes reversing the motor momentarily will clear it.

As for taking the pump apart and reassembling it, sealing is a problem and in all liklihood will leak!!

If you can afford it, I would pay the difference and get a new one. With a used one, you are still in the situation where it could go "bad" at any time. I bought a brand new Bosch that lasted 5 minutes. I returned it and got another one with no hassle. . So much for Bosch quality!! (I hope their woodworking tools are better..I just bought a new Bosch Router!!)

I wonder what the country of origin is on their stuff nowadays?

I understand.. But Aren't we always being told how reliable the 944 is?

(tongue firmly in cheek)
