Possibly a bad fuel return line, or a cracked tank. EIther way, it isn't good.

No driving until you locate the cause.

I recall a few previous posts concerning this issue. Do a search for "gas leak", "tank" etc. and you should get some good results.

i had that happen one time on the old '84.
i gassed it and moved a short distance to pay.

i parked on a hill sloping down to the left.

when i came out i had a lot of gas on the ground so i never parked it on that type of slope after gassing up and that was the only time it happened.

Mine had a tiny leak at the fitting where the gas line entered the gas tank. I tightened the nut a little and it stopped.

I second the bad return line. Check those lines around your filter. Mine was leaking at a rate of a drop per 2 seconds once - not good. Luckily, they located the fuel filter opposite the exhaust (as opposed to BMWs).

Hi,

I had such bad experience too. It caused by a bad fuel pump (it's leaking!)

I replaced by a rebuilt pump and the car running good then.
