5 Bids, 6 days left to go..... I think it might get expensive. Looks like a very clean car tho.

I get nervous about anything Porsche-related coming from Georgia.

Let's just say there is a certain disreputable business based there that misrepresents its auctions on eBay.

At least a couple of 'em in fact. One is particularly notorious. An anagram of their initials is "DAG", if that helps.

you guys know what helps? Naming these places, so pelicanites know to stay away from them. By alluding to them, you do nothing but give us doubt, and by telling us, you give us info on which companies to stay clear of.

I think Porsche-o-phile is referring to German Auto Dismantlers. I have considered buying parts from them in the past - i wonder if there is a story behind this apparent bad rep?

I remember that someone here posted that they had a 968 motor for sale on eBay...
"Low mileage" 968 motor on eBay....hmmm Also, I recall someone ordering $1000s of dollars of 911 parts from them, getting a very small number of them, getting months of runaround on the phone, getting some more shipments of some more parts, more runaround...

Uh... be careful with this car. I don't think Porsche offered the interior that way. Looks like it was originally all black interior and someone replaced the carpet and the seats. The seats don't even match the carpet. If that carpet were original the center console would match and so would the lower dash pad as well as the lower half of the door panel and not just the door pocket. Might be perfectly fine. Or it might have gotten a bit wet inside which could lead to other probs down the road. Or I might be completely wrong, although that has never happened before...

I have seen plenty of early cars where the interior was black and the carpet and seats were a different color. Some just like this one and also the Can-can red interior was done the same way. This car looks legit to me.

The car pictured has _exactly_ the same color scheme as my own '86 951. Brown dash, brown lower dash pad, brown center console, brown door panel, and cream carpet and seats. The cream carpet fades a lot more than the seats, and in my car the carpet is really a biege now, lighter than the seats. Exactly as it is in the car shown on E-Bay. It was a legitimate factory color option. What does make me wonder though is the cobbled vacuum line to the brake booster (the "garden hose" on top of the manifold) and the fact that the car is wearing 87 or later wheels, which do not fit '86 cars without modification. It may simply be wheel spacers, it may be an upgrade to later suspension, but it makes me wonder who has done it. Aaron

The car looks like a good deal for the money so far. The late offset D90's look a little funky.
Aaron, the dash and door panels in that car are black and that color combo is a little weird so if it matches your car your car is a little weird. How about that you one Turbo owning know it all. |

Yes it is interesting to have this happen for the first time. I'm not sure how I am going to handle all this. Oh wait... of course! I'm not wrong, your car must have had the entire interior swapped out also!!! And to think I was about to end it all.
Well then it appears that is a very clean car.

The fact that the color combination is uncommon does not make it a non-factory option as the poster whom I quoted claimed. The odds of two '86 944 turbos being modified in _exactly_ the same uncommon way to look factory are so astronomically small that the possibility can be ignored completely. I'm wrong often. I'm wrong on many things. But I'm not wrong here. The color comination displayed on that E-Bay car is factory. I have no problem with it being called weird. I would have had no problem had the poster whom I quoted said that he thought it might be non-stock. But the second he said that he was never wrong he exposed himself as a pompous arse and therefore a legitimate target. Essentially, had he omitted his closing sentence, the tone of my reply would have been much different.
