Adjusting the door latch

I adjusted my passenger door latch this weekend and wanted to post some photos that pick up where the Haynes manual leaves off.

This is a 86 with Power windows.

Follow the Haynes guide in taking the door apart.

Remove the 3 8mm bolts that hold on the black guard.





Reach down inside the door and unbolt the bottom of the window track:





Push the track out of the way slightly. It's attached at the top somehow, but it has some give to it.

I found that these access holes allow for the easy (well easier) attachment/detachment of the latching and lock mechinisms:

What were the symptoms that you were trying to correct? My 87 passenger door seems to drop when I open the door and needs some alignment to correct. Is this what yours was doing?

You had to squeeze the button with both hands to open the door from the outside. I think your problem is more severe.
