whole colum if required in my 85.5 944 from the current non airbag 4 spoke to a more modern porsche 944/951 airbag wheel

do you want a functioning airbag or not? if so, don't even bother as it would be cheaper to buy an airbag car than to do it right (assuming you could find a shop to do it right, which is doubtful).

If you just want one of those bloated airbag wheels, your best bet would be to buy one (i don't even know if you can really) from a dismantler and have someone experienced (or dumb) enough take the airbag out. I'm going to bet that they mount differently too, as I can't see taking the front of the wheel off to get to a 21mm nut with an airbag in the way. Don't quote me on that though. As far as replacing the steering column, you probably could, but there's still the matter of getting a dead airbag wheel for it. I believe the airbag wheel is also more difficult to remove from the column but again I'm not sure.

Maybe the easiest way would be modifying a non-airbag wheel to look like an airbag wheel.

Of course maybe im full of crap.

piece of cake. the airbag is obviously not going to work, but the new wheel will mount right up. getting it off and on is a piece of cake as well.

Yup, 4 t-25 screws in the back of the wheel, and the airbag comes out. Then it's just like any other steering wheel.
If there are no electronics connected to the airbag, then it can't possibly go off.

the air bag actually working is a pipe dream i believe. installing shock sensors in and around the car in various places.. and i believe you'd have to replace the dme to control all that too... but i could be wrong.

i just dont think a working air bag in a car unequipped for it is a good idea...
the wheel, if i'm not mistaken, will fit though.

you'd have to remove the bags from the wheel... at least, it'd be smart to...
and wait to hear for sure before buying...
