alternator hardware question

Hi,

I may have asked this before but I don't recall anyone posting a response. If anyone has a copy of PET and can spare 10 min. to look something up for me, I need to know the specs of the studs coming out the back of the alternator that hold the air duct on. All that stuff was missing when I bought my car and I'm trying to put everything back "correctly" and I need to buy the four nuts, but I don't know what size they are. Also are there supposed to be flat washers, lock washers, whatever. Unfortunately all I have is a laptop and it doesn't have a big enough display to run PET.

It's kind of a PITA to pull the airbox in the parking lot of the hardware store to get at those studs, and the guys working there might not be totally cool with that plan.

This is an '88 944 NA by the way, if it makes any difference.

thanks,

nate

The PDF's of the PET can be found on the USA Porsche web site.

http://www.porsche.com/usa/accessoriesandservices/classic/classic-originalparts/originalparts-originalparts/

Your model would be the 944_2. Choose the correct year. Once it opens in the PDF viewer save it to your hard drive.

perfect! I'd forgotten about the .pdfs, thank you!

Now one more dumb question. anyone know what the thread pitch is on those studs? I ASSume that it is whatever the standard European metric thread pitch is since it's not specified, but I don't know what that is, and the hardware store that I frequent is geared towards people who work on boats so they probably carry both European and Japanese sizes (as well as Whitworth and all the other weird crap.) I like to go there because they have lots of stainless stuff, and on my "other" project I'm kind of going nuts (pun not intended) with the underhood detailing.

Is there a handy chart of standard Euro-metric thread pitches that I can print out and stick to my toolbox?

never mind, I found it... had to jog my memory for the nomenclature. it was ISO vs. JIS that I was thinking of.
