S2 Cam help

Hello everyone,

I need some help troubleshooting my cams on the S2, they will not turn at ALL. I have put a 100lbs of torque on the cam bolt and it still will not move. Tensioner goes up an down...that's all.

I rencently replaced the headgasket and I was trying to get everything aligned when I noticed I could not turn the cam.
So far, I have done the following.

I turned the flywheel back a little to align it with the cam and slipped on the belt. When I tried to turn the crank back to TDC, the cam will not move and the timing belt slips.

I have looked at the cams and there isn't anything obstructing them.

I did narrow it down to the intake cam as I can wiggle the exhaust cam with a wrench. The intake cam will not budge.

I tried loosening up the cam bridges, evenly, and tried to turn it again. It moved...tightened everything back to spec....no move...

One other thing I realized...the PO had the top end rebuilt some time ago. When I was taking everything down, I noticed the cam bridges were out of order, so when I put everything back together, I put them in the correct order. May be the problem?

I need help trying to figure out what is happening...any ideas?

Thanks,
Clint

fixed? you figured out what was wrong?

I'm curious. It was the valves hitting the pistons right?

NO... no valve contact..thankfully.
The upper bridge caps were upside down...they were numbered right...just upside down.

Just a reminder...always pay close attention to the manual!

Even better, take a digital photo (or ten) before you start taking things apart...
