Lightbulb Subwolfer?

Hmmm... Just wondering if anyone has put a subwolfer in the center of the dash in a 924 or early 944? If so where'd you get it and how did you install it?

Thats gonna be one small subwoofer. You may be able to put the amp underneath the glove box, your best bet would be to put everything in the rear cargo area though.

I have 2 10in subwoofers in the trunk of my s2 cab

I'm not sure but the only woofer that could fit would be a 6inch. Maybe a center channel speaker would be a better choice. A woofer up in the dash would cause a lot of rattling eventually.

i was thinkin maybe construct a box that would screw onto the foldable back seat in which it would sit flush with the rear when open (ppl can sit in the back) and would have the speakers pointed directly towards the back and when the back seat is closed (making it not possible for anyone to sit back there) having the speakers point upwards.

Not sure what kinda speakers would fit there, maybe 8 inch im not sure. Just an idea tho. If 8 inch subwoofers do fit then two would be the least but id try to push for 4

I got an 8in in the passenger side rear cubby with the amp in the spare tire hole on the opposite side of where the spare tire mounts so I can still have the spare tire in the car.

As far as a woofer, you woldent want to put one in the Cente There no enclousrer behind there and it would realy produce any bass at all. You can put other speakers in there If you got an early like me in the center of the dash there is a grill that can be removed and you can put a 4x6 in there if you wanted surround sound in the vehicle or like a 5-6 inch screen. Best speaker in that dash would probly be a 4 inch speaker or a 5 1/4 component speaekr with a modified plate

Nice set up Jamie! If only I didn't ever have to use my hatch in a functional way I have thought of the cubby route several times myself, and decided that it would be best to use that for extra cu. ft. of box area, and have a bigger sub mount above it (an inverted L shape type configuration). The spare tire well also seems like an attractive way to go.

As far as the center channel/sub idea... I hate it! Why would you want to ruin your stereo sound with a stupid center channel?! The only reason that I would have it hooked up is if I had a DVD player in the car and had a system with a surround sound mode I always thought it would be a cool place to mount a navigation unit or one of those GPS track/speed/acceleration timer thingys.

Here is my set up. Kind of what you were describing. 2 8" Clarion DVC subs bridged to a 150w clarion amp. The cabinet is 8"at the base and tapers to aprox 2.5" at the top. 3 separate chambers and matches the profile of the 2 rear shock towers. It is attached to the back of the rear seat. When the seat folds foreward the box goes with it so you still have the rear storage area of the rear carpet. Also whn folded and you are carrying cargo. It is less likely to jumo over the 1" origonal seat lip !

When I get the time to put mine in it's going to take the place of the back seats. I already took them out. It's going to flat at the same level as the trunk area. A sub behind each seat and the amps flush mounted down into the entire thing. Hopefuly I can get it done here in a month or two. I gotta get the sunroof to stop leaking first. The back drivers side leaks a little and it would go right down on top of the amp. I wish those damn seals weren't so ****ing expencive.

s928s, can you give me some plans for something like that? even just a pencil drawing in ms paint would suffice.. just enough to wrap my head around how difficult building something like that would be.

Thank's bro it was fun doing it i still gots a ways to go. And been thinking of a different style of box to put in. The one that is in there currently was supose to be painted same color as the car.
And for boxes there is like you said the cubbies on the side welll you could just glass some 10" subs on each corner and set sumthing up were you coudl still remove um to get at the spair. Me i said heck with the spair

"What did you do for front speakers?"

the frotn seakers are clarion 4x6 and the rear are clarion 5x7, had to modify the opening...

As fo a drawing or template. I started out with a piece of cardboard made a template and then cut is out of MDF..Used the router and sander to round all of the edges over . Glued and screwed it together.
