I couldn't. I could get another one to add to the stable, but I couldn't get rid of Naomi.

Every once in a while I think about it. Like when it's taking my credit card and going on a spending spree. Or it's sitting there for a few weeks cause it can't move. I love her even though she's a pain in my ass sometimes. So no. Unless I got a hell of a deal on a turbo or S2 or something.

At this point I have put so much time, attention, and money into this 944 that there is no point in selling it. Besides the fact that I am about halfway into personalizing the car into something that *I* want my car to be.

When people say, "well, if you remove the rear 'porsche' sticker people will think you've had your car resprayed!" I think, "BIG DEAL. I want the car to look a certain way, so I'm going to do it. I am not thinking of selling it."

I can't see a situation where I would sell this particular car.

I toyed with the idea when i had my 924S, buying something newer. Couldnt bring myself to do it.

Bought my 944...toyed with the idea of buying a 951. I have so much work into my car i couldnt sell it, even if i was getting another one to play around with. I would probably swap all my stuff over to the 951..but that would take forever and is just not worth it.

Could i ever sell this car, defenetley not. To much time and money into it. And it always puts a smile on my face.

I couldn't trade it for another car of its day besides a 911, or for anything that costs what the car is worth. I like my car a lot, but I do think I would like the reliability that a newer car has. A BMW 328, 330, or M3 would be a reasonable substitute. Let's not kid, if someone wanted to trade a perfectly good Ford GT or a GT2 for our 944s, we'd jump on the deal.

I'd really like to do a cross country trip sometime before I head out into the real world, and I don't know if the 944 has what it takes. It would at the last need new fuel lines, a clutch job, tires, upgrade the wiring, and something to sort out that damn steering wheel shake- that would drive me insane if I had to deal with it for 5k+ miles in a relatively short time. By the time I got around to all that, I'm sure there would be other things ready to go bad, like CVs.

Haha. Yeah. I know what you mean. Mines not quite that bad but it hurts me every time I see it and know how much I would have to spend the make her how she should be. Maybe in like 20 years I will have that kind of money.

I don't think I could gring myself to sell. Besides I have 4 sons who keep telling me that they want her and one of them is only 10.
Yellowline I recently took her on a trip to North Queensland (townsville) a round trip of about 2400K's (1500miles) in 30+ (86+) heat without anything going wrong. Allthough aircon would have been nice.
That said anything is for sale for the right price in this case you would need to have access alot of cash or my last will and testement.

This is my first Porshe (& my 200th post) It is the thing I look at before
going to bed at night, although material things are always for sale.
But no matter how much cash it would be painful to see it leave.
safe driving

As many times as I have thought about dumping it, I just cant bring myself to do it. At times I get frustrated at how much it cost to maintain it. But I really havent had any major problems with it, other than the normal maint items. Only major project was the clutch.
I just like the car to much to sell it.

If I got similar or more then what I paid for it, I'd sell my '86 in a heartbeat. My '85, was old, kinda felt it, needed about $2.5K to make it track safe/ready, but most definately would not of chosen to part with it.

If I did sell my '86, I'd be looking for another 944, mainly concentrating on the older interior models with Fuch's.

Wouldn't want to but reality is they're cars. As much as I love them and put so much of my blood, sweat and tears into them the reality is they're only one dip$hit-on-a-cell-phone-driving-a-SUV away from being turned into scrap metal.

If there was a bad-enough accident that required extensive body work to fix, I'd part any of them out and that'd be the end of it. If it wasn't THAT bad but totaled, I'd turn it into a spec/track car, take whatever money was left over and apply it to the other two.

As far as selling one just to sell, I'd have to have a heck of a good deal on the table - a good early/mid 911 would probably tempt me, as would a nice S2 cabrio or 968.

Though I have a lot of $$, time, & effort in my 944S2, I'd sell it. There is a line already of folks willing to buy it.

The reasons I'm holding on to it for now is:
1. With all the work (including a new head) I've put into it - the car, mechanically, is in tip-top shape.
2. I know my car - how it handles - what type of acceleration and braking I expect...etc.
3. I'm not done pouring $$ into it - next up - suspension upgrade!

But selling it and picking up a new Cayman is awfully tempting...

took me 5 secs to decide i had enough of my 924, and if the new 944 at some point fails to deliver the goods , it'll probably take me maybe 2 secs more then the 924 took....

the 911 however, that's something else, i swore i'de never sell it

I could, and did. Miss it a bit, DON'T miss bringing it to a porsche mechanic.

There are better options out there.
