climate control unit issues
Okay I found they recently discontinued the replacement climate control unit. I don't see why, but whatever. I don't know the true problem with mine, but I know the previous owner says it is rigged to run hot all the time. Seems simple, but I just don't know. what do you guys recommend I do? I'd rather replace the whole unit out of ease, but ebay's are too expensive.... and used.

I'd get in touch with the PO if you kept his number and ask him exactly what it was he did and why...

the guy is a good friend of mine, so that's no problem. I'm almost sure the rod snapped off the unit itself, if I have the right idea of how these things work. I guess I just don't know about having the p.o.s. fixed or cracking for a used replacement.

Go to www.clarks-garage.com and look up Heater Malfunctions and Air Conditioning Troubleshooting. This should give you the basics of how the system operates.

AeroSS There are several reasons why yours could be hot all the time but as Eldorado mentioned, it would be wise to find out what the PO did if anything. There is a very cheap plastic piece that goes on the ac/heating unit under the dash by the accelerator that often breaks and causes the car to go to all hot all the time, this may be the problem. The PO may have also went outside and used some type of tie wrap to cause the hot water control valve to always be in the open position. You just need to find out what he did. More than likely he didn't do anything to the control unit to cause it to be hot all the time, he probably just had problems with it being hot all the time and then riggged the hot water control valve. There is a chance that it was the plastic piece under the dash and not the climate control that caused the problem in the first place and that part is just a few dollars, so check into that first if you are trying to fix it right.
