The PO kept the spare tire inflated, I think because he didn't have a compressor. I can't get the tire to remember how it's suppose to collapse. I have drawn a vacuum on it and let it sit for a cople weeks and it still won't go all the way down. I would like to put it in its holder instead of just laying in the back. Anyone have a suggestion or do I need to buy another spare?
Thanks, Steve

They are friggin heavy though! I couldnt believe how heavy the spare was..feels like it weighs more than a 16x8 D90 with a 245 width tire!

Get a valve stem remover available at any bicycle store for about 50 cents, pull the valve stem and let the tire deflate naturally for about a day. I believe the entire valve stem assembly can be unscrewed to obtain the same effect - pretty sure there's a description in the owner's manual. I did have to use mine once - wasn't a problem at all.

The first thing I did was unscrew the valve stem core, it started to fold up then the tread shifted to one side. I then sucked the air out with a vacuum pump, quickly disconnected it and caped it. I put alot of weight on the wheel part so the floor would push the tread back and let it sit for 2 weeks. Still will not fold up all the way. I think the spare has been inflated for years and lost it's ability to fold.
On a happier note, there is one for sale about 45 minutes from my location. Steve

When I had a 924 (granted, they were 14" wheels) I had a full size spare and it fit quite well. WIll a 15" spare fit in a 944? Never tried. Don't like those funky spares!!
