Update on my 924S!

Well I reccently posted that I had aquired an '87 924S about a month and a half ago... It was out of commision for a while as it needed a new fuel damper and regulator (the old ones were shot and therefore leaking fuel into the vacuum hose system)

Well last weekend I changed out the old parts with new ones from Pelican. It was a much simpler process than I had expected. All total it took about 30 minutes and that included the cleanup.

I must say now the car runs amazing. I have driven it a bit the past few days and I am extremely impressed. Talk about handling! I took the roof off today and went on a hour long cruise around some country roads... what a joy. Its a good smooth ride when you want, but then it can kick out hte rear end and god when you want, too...

And what is even more great is the torque. I am someone used to 80s japaneese sports cars.. where on the country roads out here require constant shifting between gears to keep a good power band... but I'm loving this 2.5 litire grunt of a lump up there pulling me through corners. I can leave it in one gear almost all the way into town. I went up a hill today in third gear @ 2K with plenty of torque to accelerate that I usually have to shift down into a 4-5K rpm 2nd gear in my toyota and barely accelerate. It makes driving realy enjoyable, especially when you aren't out to go fast, but just to drive to be driving.

So overall I am very pleased. The attention you get from driving such a stand-out car is neat too. Its a nice bright Guards Red so that probably attributes a lot. Today at the gas station a small kid yelled "Look mom a Ferrari!" and I politely corrected the youngster, and he goes "Look mom a Porsche!" .. allthough the mother didn't acknowledge anything. At least it's nice to know that it amuses young children.

I still have a few small annoyances, like my brakes squeaking randomly when I go to stop (this happenes only sometimes, I'm not sure of the cause).

I'd love to go to a P-car meet & greet... Allthough I'm not sure if a 924S is welcome.... Are there any big Midwest events like that?

Also, thanks to all those who helped me diagnose the fuel regulator and damper problems. It solved the problems completely. I cannot believe how much better the car is running. I'm glad I found this place..
