Project TheCooler's 944S2 Build Up Thread

So instead of making a million posts Ill just make this one to explain what's happening with my engine install.

-Tonight I took off my old clutch, bell housing, pressure plate, and flywheel
-Clutch looks like it only has 50% left to it I will keep it for now to save money
-Took off the new oil pan in inspected everything in the new engine
-Oil pan looked very clean as well as the inside of the engine (Just a little gunk at the bottom...no metal shaving to be found)
-Put a new oil pan gasket on

****While putting the gasket on I heard a loud pop while i was torquing the bolts ...Has this ever happened to anyone else? I inspected everything and didn't see anything broken or cracked*****

To do list for tomorrow

-Put old clutch assembly on new motor and wait for parts to come in.

Maybe it was one of those Aluminum thick washers imbeded in the gasket settling in it's place?

My guess is that the oil pan was bound up on the threads of one of the bolts and when there was finally enough pressure to force it loose, it made the snap noise.

If you don't mind me asking. What was wrong with the old engine?

nm, I found the post stating you spun a bearing. How bad is the block? I have a friend looking for a decent block.

Project has been put on hold ...Im at Yale New haven hospital right now. I stole a plug from a computer here and hooked up my laptop. I guess theres something wrong with my kidneys . Theyre only functioning 20% of what they should. Ill probably be here for a while. I have this intense pain in my back and stomach also. This is hell...thank god for pain killers though.

Glad to see it's all coming back together. Hope your Kidneys are doing better.
I'm sure that you thought of this but you should probably do the Balance shaft gaskets while it's out. (one of mine is leaking a bit) That A-Arm Ball joint looked pretty beat. Was the Steering sloppy. There are some drill out ball joint kits out there where you can replace the old rivet ones without forking out for an whole new A-Arm.

The engine is in!!!!

The only problem Im having is getting 1 motor mount bolt in right near the headers. I have no space and the sucker doesnt want to spin easy. Is there a trick?

Next thing i need to do is hook up the external oil cooler, coolant lines, electrical wiring and fill it with fluids.

I like to loosen up the 4 cross member bolts alot, first. also make sure the other engine mount bolt is in but very loose. Then tighten a little on each mount.. then same for the cross member. Also a jack under the center of the cross member supporting but not pinning the cross member to the frame.

Did you light it up yet.. Good Luck
