Want bigger brakes! Do 928/968 brakes bolt on directly to my 86 951?

Hey guys just wondering the best way for more stoppage?? I am told by a very credible tech that 928 brakes would be best. Are these bolt ons? Conversion kits? Master cylinder change out?

Any tips would be great!

The 968 brakes are the same ones on your car right now. You want the Turbo S calipers or 928S4 calipers..aka the Big Blacks.

Take a look here for good information regarding upgrading to something bigger..

If you go with those Turbo S calipers (also the same as 993 C2/C4), you'll also need figure out a mount -- either replace the steering knuckles or use an adapter (same adapter as those used for mounting Big Reds).

But IMHO, the best way for better stoppage is simply making sure your rotor/pads/fluids aren't worn out and having good tires.

Hey now! Didn't you just buy a set of them there Wilwoods!

Have to agree though - four little patches. Nothin' like good tires.

As a simpler/easier way to get more stopping power you might consider a 5/33 brake bias valve. IIRC Paragon and a couple other places carry them. The rear brakes on the 951 are somewhat under-utilized and increasing the bias to strengthen the rear braking a bit has been known to help.

Make sure not to brake too deeply into your first corner after installing or you might get a nasty surprise. . .

Yea... but my excuse was that I was running single piston n/a brakes -- which instills zero confidence, especially since they needed a rebuild...
