What do we need for our cars

what is it that we need and don't have for our cars or is too expensive? Camber plates, short shifter (why pay $120 for something that cost much much less to make), cheaper rebuilt cylinder heads, etc

just trying to get a feel for what would be worth making

An aftermarket turbo kit that comes with bigger brakes, a stronger tranny, a taller ring & pinion, a more streamlined nose, something to clean up the airflow at the rear of the car, a boost guage, stiffer roll bars, stronger clutch, stronger valve springs, and a whole lot of other bits and pieces to make a proper turbo conversion.

Of course, such a kit would mean loosing quite a bit of traffic here on then 944 forum.

keep em coming..

i dont think it'd be worth doing ANYTHING to an n/a transmission there are turbo transmissions designed for it, no? for the bigger brakes making an adapter for the big reds wouldn't a problem...the manifold isn't a problem (making a xover pipe at the shop right now for my silver n/a...I just wish it didn't hit hte garage today..

our machine shop is finally opened up and we can do virtually anything. i dont know about the elec. water pump tho

the machinst is incredible. If you guys are interested I can post pics of "his" RSRs when he was crew chief for the porsche pro team

if you guys are interested I can post our "resume", pictures of the shop and equipment some previous work. I'm not really looking to make a killing on anything..so far the stuff I've made is just stuff I needed for my car and if people are interested I can make more

Cheaper rear glass replacements.
A sunroof system that has a lot less to go wrong with it.
Self tensionng timing belts.
A cheaper timing belt tool.
More aftermarket body options. (Not advocating ricer options here, just saying more stuff like the quality parts from Fiberwerks.)

adjustable camber plates that don't alter the strut/spring travel, and utilize a thrust bearing

something like the kokeln rear suspension thing that eliminates the torsion bars

Spacers that don't cost $400 for a set of four.

A viable dashboard resurfacing option that doesn't involve a crappy plastic "Made in China" cover.

LED or other lighting options for 85.5+ cars instrument clusters.

Coil-over and other legitimate suspension upgrades for early cars.

Manual steering components that don't cost $1,000.

Seat covers that actually fit and can be used to repair the ripped/torn/failing ones in our cars.

A cheap way to turbo n/a cars for under $1,000. . . (just kiddin' on that one)

Hmmm. . . I'm sure some others will come to mind.

Seriously though if you're considering a turbo conversion type of modification - do away with the crossover design. It sucks. I'd much rather see a system built into or directly onto the exhaust manifold, similar to the Callaway type. It spools faster and doesn't cause the deterioration of your oil pan gasket. Simpler and easier to get at too. Doesn't have to be a copycat design - a way of running a 4-1 header into a turbo and then out the back as opposed to a log-type manifold would be ideal. I've actually sketched out some concepts for this utilizing the space that's typically empty between the exhaust manifolds and the inner passenger fenderwell. There's a lot of room there to get pipes and plumbing. Obviously this requires re-routing the fuel lines, but that's a good idea anyway.

That reminds me - how about a nice S.S. fuel line kit for early cars?

Why should the late cars have all the fun? The early ones are better in many respects anyway. . .

How about
*wheel spacers for the early cars
* Front and Rear Harness bars
* Coil overs front & rear
* Aluminum Carpet kit Especially the front( Reg floor mats just keep falling apart on me)
*A-arms with Replaceable bushings that wont be hard to find
*Supercharger kit with its available Inter-cooler
*Intake and Exhaust Valves, Stainless Swirl polished or Titanium?
*Coper head gaskets or other metal that will take the heat and abuse
* A/c Delete bracket
* A/C & Alternator Bracket adapter ( Later 110-120 alternators To fit earlies) would be nice couldn't get my setup to work, NO machine shop
* Cold Air intake
* Tools: Belt tension, Pulley Holders, Flywheel stop?
*Exhaust stems: Headers 4-1, Cat back, Or complete Front to back. With option of welding on our own muffler ( stainless or some more cost effective material)
* Some type of grounding adapter To the chassis of the car to which we can attach/run extra grounds to as we know these cars need a lil help in that area.
* A battery tray one thats a lil more corrosive resistant.
*Brake line kits: The little metal tube lined ones
* A mock copy of a Porsche 924 turbo(931) hood scoop that can be welded in by a shop

That's all i can think of for now

Regards
J

How about metal sunroof gears, some nice looking 17" wheels with early offset, a cheaper Dynamic racinglike strut brace, and a no leaking billet aluminium power steering reservoir.

EXCELLENCE covered this a couple months ago, believe it or not.

Building a turbo engine, what I notice a distinct lack of is affordable 951 headers

More technicians .....oh you mean something you can build. How about a chain instead of the cam belt and delete the WP and go electric WP.

Full proof oil pan baffle or oil injection for the #2 bearing.

How about a nice harness bar that clips into the rear seat bolts that are exposed while the rear seats are folded down? I don't know if this is a good attatchment point for a bar or not but if were made to be easily detatchable so the car could be easily converted between street and track setups.....
