Porsche Crest I Can't get the Stone Guards Adhesive off!!!

Hi,
I was finally able to remove the stone guards using a heat gun, plastic scrapper and plenty of patience!! The adhesive that remains is another story. I used lighter fluid, wd40, and some adhesive remover but nothing comes off. This is a 1983 944 that is beautiful otherwise except for the stone guards leftovers. WHAT TO DO???
Did someone suceed and know a great way?
thanks,
ernest

I used nail polish remover. Put it onto a paper towel and rub the hell out of it. It will eventually come off.

You can use straight up acetone, but i personally think that is to strong and will damage the paint.

Are you taking off white ones by any chance? The white ones i took off came off in three layers. A clear layer, a colored white layer and the adhesive. The regular clear ones will come off in two, clear and adhesive.

do a search in this forum for the thread "help with stone guards" and you'll get very detailed methods of taking them off.

acetone works very well, but like techno duck said, it could damage the paint. I used paint thinner and it worked really well too. Just don't rub it in any more than you have to, and wash the area afterwards.

Heat gun and a plastic scraper.

Followed by adhesive remover
