Tach stops working when hot
I have a 1989 944S2 which is dedicated for track use.
The tach works fine for the the first 1 - 3 runs (20-40 minutes) but then stops working. The problem starts with the tach going to 0, then jumping back to normal. After a short time - nothing. I assume something is getting hot. What wires should I check?, or do you think it is the tach itself? The dash has been removed and wires have been changed. I have do problem bringing a new wire to the tach - if I knew from where. David |

Wires don't usually quit when they get hot....that's usually an electrical part doing that which is inside the tach. Wire should come from the coil.

I'm 'guessing' that the problem is when it gets hot. I do know that theproblem has only occurred after running the car hard for 45 minutes. It works fine in my driveway! ?
I have a tach from a 914-6. Could I plug wire it into the 944 to try? |
