early to late interior project

Well I decided to convert my 924s interior to late 944 since I have all extra parts and some wintertime to spare, this should be fun project. Don’t get me wrong I like the original look of the early dash, its just my 924 interior is totally trashed, I have to fix it anyway. Does anyone here done it? I have seen tons of posts with the attempts but not actual finish deal.

i think i've only known of one person to do it.. think he's on rennlist... good luck changing *everything* in the dash... including the speedometer sensor and how everything is connected. lots and lots of work involved here.. but hey, if you succeed, i'll make you one of very few.

The worst part I was worry about was the upper firewall. The way that a blower seat, then was the heater core assembly and the fact that dash bone is slightly larger than the late chassis. I had to cut out little chunk of the main dash beam, was ¾ too wide and weld some tubing to regain structural strength. Of course the windshield line up and steering wheel angle are little different. U know I forgot about the Speedo sensorJ hehehe good point, gladly I don’t have to cut anything there J well will see

p.s. here is the deal with aligning the blower ,lots of hammer banging:

and here is uper firewall after all welded and sealed:

You will need to either install the impulse sender in the transmission or get a late transmission to use the late interior. But, on the up side you could follow up and swap to the late suspension (no provision for front speedometer cable, and aluminum trailing arms/control arms).
