No start troubleshooting steps?

Had my grandfather call me and said that one of his other grandchildren's brother in law's 944 won't start.

I'm sure you can see my look of horror, as I try to troubleshoot *this* through the grapevine.

Here's what I know:

Won't STAY started. Will consistently start for 30seconds to a minute.

Replaced the speed sensor. I asked my grandfather if he gapped it to .8 mm, he said that honestly, probably not, I'll ask him.

What are the things I should tell them to check?

Obviously check for spark when it doesn't start, then what?

Thanks!

Since it starts and runs for a little bit, I would check your fuel supply/pressure. Could be something as simple as replacing a fuel filter.

Try swapping out the DME relay as well. If it has a bad connection, the current flow could make it warm up, then lose connection causing the fuel pressure to cease, and engine to stop.

can they keep it alive by using the gas pedal?
if reving the enging keeps it running, it's most likely a vacuum leak.
